Abstract: Objective: To study the effects of dental implant restoration on plaque, periodontal pocket index and aesthetics after restoration of dentition defects by comparing with traditional methods of repairing dentition defects. Methods: From October 2018 to October 2019, 80 patients with dentition defects were randomly assigned to the observation group(n=40)and the control group(n=40). The patients in the observation group were treated with dental implant. The control group was treated with traditional methods. The effect of dentition defect and the index of plaque and periodontal pocket were compared before and after treatment in the two groups. Results: The total effective rate of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05), there was no statistical significance between the pre-treatment plaque index and the depth of periodontal pocket in the observation group(P>0.05), but after treatment, the plaque index of the two groups was significantly lower than that of the control group, and the periodontal pocket depth was generally shallower than that of the control group The incidence of complications in the two groups was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion: The method of dental implant to repair the defect of dentition has obvious clinical effect, less complications, and has been recognized by patients. It can be widely used in clinical.
