Abstract: Maintaining the stability of marginal bone levels and soft tissue around dental implants is essential for the long-term success of implant therapy. The relative position of the implant platform to the crest of the alveolar ridge plays an important role in marginal bone resorption and soft tissue attachment. Currently, the optimal implant placement depth is still controversial. This article intends to review the effects of different implant placement depths on crestal bone levels and soft tissue height.

Key words: Implant placement depth, Marginal bone resorption, Supracrestal tissue height
