Abstract: Maxillary posterior tooth loss can lead to resorption of the alveolar ridge and continuous pneumatization of the maxillary sinus, resulting in insufficient bone quantity in the maxillary posterior region. Maxillary sinus floor elevation is a technique for augmenting the maxillary posterior region. Maxillary sinus mucoperiosteum perforation is one of the most common complications in the lateral window technique for sinus floor elevation. How to repair the perforation and the effects of different repair methods vary. This article reviews the different repair methods for maxillary sinus mucoperiosteum perforation in the lateral window technique for sinus floor elevation, aiming to provide some reference for clinical practitioners.
